Colin Long's Family Gets Scare

The family of Kelowna Rockets forward Colin Long have had a couple of scary days, and likely sleepless nights.
Long's dad Steve, who lives in Santa Ana California told me the fires that are destroying homes and are sending families fleeing in the state of California, were just 3 miles away from their home at one point. Long says the Santiago fire in Orange County came close, but the Santana winds blew it in the other direction. Long says on Sunday he could see the wall of flames moving up the hillsides, but now they've gone over those hills and down into the canyons. While Steve Long's family is no longer in danger his daughters boyfriend, who is a medic in the navy, is helping the firefighters who need medical attention. Steve Long told me last night he will be at the hockey game tonight when the Rockets face-off against the Giants, looking forward to breathing clean air. In some respects the Long's are experiencing what we in these parts faced in 2003 with the Okanagan Mountain Park fire.
