Just Picture You Were at Rockets Practice Today

I thought I'd try something a little different today. I took my camera to the Rockets practice. Here you see the boys gathering around head coach Ryan Huska for a chat on the next drill. After two hard practices on Tuesday and Wednesday, today's practice was all about high tempo and speed. Again you get a real appreciation for how fast these guys are when you are on the bench.

He's my favorite defenseman, and I had to get a shot of Luke Schenn. His little brother Brayden scored his first WHL goal last night for the Brandon Wheat Kings. The cool thing is Brayden scored the goal on his sisters 6th birthday.
Schenn and Kyle Beach collide tomorrow night in a battle of two potential first round picks in this summers NHL draft. Schenn will likely be on the ice every time the Everett Silvertips leading point getter is. The game should be a beauty! You can hear it on AM 1150 starting with the pre-game show at 6:30 and the play-by-play at 7.

Cody Almond takes a break at practice. He appears to have improved his work ethic since he was a healthy scratch against the Vancouver Giants early this season. Cody has gone four games without a goal, yet has a three game point streak thanks to 4 assists. Almond plays in his 100th WHL game Friday night against the Tips.

I complain about it often, and for those of you who have never been in Kelowna, this is the scoreboard at Prospera Place. It's not ugly, but it's not the state of the art either. Do you notice something missing? Yes no videotron. The Rockets are the only team in the BC division that doesn't have one!

Well, at least the clock gets the job done.

I also noticed the Player's Number display is missing from the Penalty Clock
