Rockets Hand Out Hardware

Here I am pictured with the Rockets MVP Colin Long. Long was also the winner of the top scorer. What's he drinking? Relax, it's water.

GM Bruce Hamilton announced Tuesday night the Rockets and AM 1150 News-Talk-Sports have agreed on a new 5 year deal to broadcast the teams games. Hamilton did say while he is pleased with the partnership, he jokingly questioned about the choice of broadcaster. He was joking wasn't he?

Rockets 3rd year veteran Luke Schenn is named the defenseman of the year. Schenn has won the award in back-to-back seasons. The last Rocket to win the defenseman of the year award twice was Gavin McLeod. Scott Hannan won the award three consecutive seasons.

Tyler Myers wins the Scholastic Player of the Year award. Myers had an average of 84.

Jamie Benn and Tyson Barrie were co-winners for the rookie of the year award. Benn also picked up the plus/minus award and surprised many by being selected the top defensive forward.
Rookie defenseman Collin Bowman is given the Unsung Hero Award.
Veteran James McEwan addresses the crowd with his Captain's Speech.

Will he remember me when I am a washed up broadcaster and he's an NHL star? Knowing Schenner, darn rights!

Were these the only awards handed out, or were there more that were not published?
