Game notes vs. Cougars


Tonight’s Preview: The Kelowna Rockets play game two of a four game home stand tonight when they host the Prince George Cougars. This is the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams. Back on October 18th Jordon Cooke made 32 saves in a 3-0 shutout win. Myles Bell scored twice in the victory. The Rockets are 2-1-0-0 in three games against the Cougars, having out-scored them 13-11. The Cougars make a return visit to Prospera Place on December 8th. Overall, the Rockets have one regulation loss in their last seven games (5-1-0-1) with the lone setback being a 5-3 loss in Edmonton last Saturday. Following tonight’s game, the Rockets host Edmonton Wednesday and Red Deer Friday night.   

Reflecting on October: The Rockets were 7-4-0-1 in 12 games in the month of October….Zach Franko has failed to take a penalty this season. In fact, Franko has taken just one minor penalty in his last 28 regular season games…In the Rockets four losses in October, they allowed three or more goals. In seven of the teams wins in October, they allowed two or fewer goals…The Rockets out-scored the opposition 47-34 in twelve games in October.

November Birthdays: Colton Sissons turns 19 on Monday while teammate Cody Fowlie turns 20 on that exactly same day. Tyson Baillie turns 17 on November 16th.    

This and That: The Rockets play 11 games in November, with eight of them on home ice. The three road games are in Tri City (Nov 16-17) and Everett…In the big picture, nine of the teams next 13 games are on home ice….Colton Sissons has been named to the roster for the Subway Super Series this month (Nov 14th ) in Vancouver…The 58 shots directed towards the Medicine Hat Tigers net October 24th was shy of the 66 shots the Rockets fired on net in Kamloops during the 2004-2005 campaign…..In the Rockets 9 wins this season, Myles Bell has earned 17 points (6+11=17). Of the 39 goals scored by the team in those nine wins, Bell has been in on 17 of them….Bell has 9+14=23 after 17 games this season…J.T Barnett and rookie Austin Glover are the only three skaters that have failed to find the score sheet this season…The Rockets have scored 40 goals in their last eleven games. Colton Sissons and Zach Franko(6), Bell and McKinlay (5), Chartier (3), Severson, Fowlie and Baillie (2) and Olsen, Goulbourne, Lees, Heffley, Bowie and Nyberg (1 each) have also scored…The Rockets acquired forward Cody Fowlie off waivers October 22nd. Fowlie played last season with the Everett Silvertips, racking up 40 points….Jordon Cooke was named the CHL/Vaughn Goaltender of the Week for October 22-28th. Cooke had two wins last week which included a shutout and a save percentage of .967…Ryan Olsen will play in his 150th career WHL game Saturday night against visiting Prince George…Ryan Huska has 195 WHL regular season victories behind the Rockets bench.
