Game Notes vs. Oil Kings


Tonight’s Preview: The Kelowna Rockets play game three of a four game home stand tonight when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings. These two teams met 12 days ago in Edmonton with the Oil Kings earning a 5-3 win. The Rockets welcomed the Oil Kings twice to Prospera Place last season, earning a 2-1 shootout win November 11/11 before falling 6-3 on February 15/12. The Rockets are riding a four game home ice winning streak, having out-scored the opposition 15-2. The Rockets have shut out the opposition in three of their last four home games. Overall, the Rockets have one regulation loss in their last eight games (6-1-0-1) with the lone setback being a 5-3 loss in Edmonton October 27th. Following tonight’s game, the Rockets host Red Deer Friday night.   

Shutout Success: The Rockets have not allowed a goal against in 175 minutes and 21 seconds. The last goal surrender came in a 4-1 win in Calgary October 28th. That goal was scored at 4:39 of the first period. The last time the Rockets recorded back-to-back shutouts prior this current streak was in March of 2010 with a 5-0 win over Seattle and a 3-0 whitewash of Vancouver.          

November Birthdays: Colton Sissons turned 19 on Monday while teammate Cody Fowlie turned 20 on that exactly same day. Tyson Baillie turns 17 on November 16th.    

This and That: The Rockets have not allowed a power play goal against in their last three games (14 for 14)….The Rockets have just one power play goal in their last four games (1 for 12 over that span)….The Rockets have ten wins in 18 games this season. Last year the team didn’t earn its 10th win until game #25…..The Rockets play 11 games in November, with eight of them on home ice. The three road games are in Tri City (Nov 16-17) and Everett…Colton Sissons has been named to the roster for the Subway Super Series this month (Nov 14th ) in Vancouver…In the Rockets 10 wins this season, Myles Bell has earned 18 points (6+12=18). Of the 44 goals scored by the team in those ten wins, Bell has been in on 18 of them….Bell has 9+15=24 after 18 games this season…J.T Barnett and rookie Austin Glover are the only three skaters that have failed to find the score sheet this season…The Rockets have scored 44 goals in their last eleven games (4.00)….The Rockets acquired forward Cody Fowlie off waivers October 22nd. Fowlie played last season with the Everett Silvertips, racking up 40 points….Jordon Cooke was named the CHL/Vaughn Goaltender of the Week for October 22-28th. Cooke had two wins last week which included a shutout and a save percentage of .967…Ryan Olsen played  in his 150th career WHL game Saturday night against visiting Prince George…Ryan Huska has 196 WHL regular season victories behind the Rockets bench.
