Rockets game notes vs. Rebels



Tonight’s Preview: The Kelowna Rockets play game two of a five game home stand tonight when they host the Red Deer Rebels. This is the second meeting of the season between the two teams. The Rockets were a 6-2 winner back on November 28th. The Rockets do not make a visit to Red Deer in 2013-2014. These two teams played three times last season – twice in Red Deer and once in Kelowna. The Rockets were a 3-1 and 6-1 winner in the Central Alberta city and earned an 8-1 win at Prospera Place on November 9, 2013. The Rockets are coming off a 7-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers Saturday night. Myles Bell had a record tying 6 point game (4+2=6) in the teams’ 42nd win of the season. The Rockets enter tonight’s game having won 26 of their last 31 games overall and 35 of their last 41 games. Five of the Rockets next seven games are on home ice. The Rockets host Edmonton Friday and Victoria Saturday night.

Bell`s 6 Point Game: Leading scorer Myles Bell`s six point game Saturday tied a franchise record. Jamie Benn also had 6 points (2+4=6). Several players have recorded five point games, including teammate Damon Severson, who had five assists two seasons ago. A Tacoma Rockets player may have recorded six or more points in a game but that information is unavailable.

Bell was also named POW from December 30th to January 5th….Rourke Chartier has been named a game star in five of the last 11 games….Mitch Wheaton turns 19 tomorrow…Cole Martin is +95 over the last two seasons…Riley Stadel had 7 goals in his first nine games. The 17 year-old has three goals in his last 34 games….Myles Bell had 11 goals in January. Ryan Olsen had 7 goals in January. Rourke Chartier has 6 goals…The Rockets have 20 games left in the regular season. Twelve are on home ice with 8 on the road…The Rockets are in their longest home stand of the season which consists of five consecutive games….The Rockets have scored six or more goals eight times on home ice this season… The Rockets are 14-2-0-0 in the second game when facing back-to-back scenarios this season….The team has been rated as the best team in the CHL according to the Top 10 junior rankings for five consecutive weeks….Six alumni of the Rockets’ will play for their respective countries at the Sochi Olympics. Jamie Benn, Shea Weber and Duncan Keith will wear colours for Canada. Alex Edler (Sweden), Lauris Darzins ( Latvia) and Thomas Raffl (Austria) will also compete…After losing two of his first three games, Jackson Whistle has won eleven of his last twelve games….The Rockets have played in six shootout games this season and are 4 and 3. Three of the four shootout wins have come on the road in Victoria, Prince George and Seattle…Jordon Cooke is 39-5-0-2 at home in last 46 starts at home dating back to last season…The Rockets have scored 4 or more goals in 22 of their 29 road games this season.
